Appreciating and Supporting Spiky Profiles
Neurodivergent professionals often have what is considered a spiky skills profile; when plotted on a graph, skills and strengths can play out in a pattern of high peaks and low troughs, resulting in a spiky appearance. Others – so called “generalists” – can have a flatter profile.
The idea that neurological variation is natural and desirable in society is central to the concept of neurodiversity. It also follows that workplaces should provide the support and environments that allow neurodivergent talent to thrive alongside their peers to achieve true neuroinclusion.
